Where Would you be without your mother? Without your mother bearing you in her womb, you wouldn’t be here today, and without care after birth, you also wouldn’t be here.
Certainly, we owe our lives to our mothers. Aren’t you glad your mother chose life? I know I am.

Yet today, motherhood is under attack! Young women are often taught that children are a burden that will wreck their education or career. Young mothers are often encourage, pressured, or even forced to kill their children by abortion, and over the last 40 years, millions of mothers have caved to the pressure and allowed their preborn children to be ripped limb from limb from their womb. Rather than listen to their maternal instincts, they have buried those instincts and allowed the destruction of over 55,000,000 children. These mothers who have chosen death for their children suffer, often in silence, for years, decades, or even the rest of their lives.

Please join Personhood FL praying that the mothers who have chosen abortion will find the forgiveness and healing that only comes through Jesus Christ and that God will revive those maternal instincts, and help Personhood FL restore the sanctity of human life. We need your help to provide legal protection to all innocent human life and to protect women from the horrid consequences of abortion. Join us today in working to pass the Florida ProLife Personhood Amendment by volunteering and in making a generous donation to help Personhood FL continue to restore the culture of life in Florida. We will put every donation, no matter how big or small, to use to work toward the day when abortion is illegal and all humans at are protected.

Happy Thanksgiving from Personhood FL. Aren’t you thankful your mother chose life? I know I am. I’m also thankful that abortion was illegal in my state when I was born. Wouldn’t it be nice if abortion were illegal today? Well, it can be, and you can help it happen!

I’m thankful that you have joined with Personhood FL to help end abortion and protect all innocent human life in FL. Over the past year, we have connected with prolifers in every region of Florida who have joined in this fight to restore the sanctity of human life. With your help, we will build on this momentum in the coming year to make every region, every county, every city, every church, every neighborhood prolife.

I’m thankful for all of the prolifers who have volunteered in prolife pregnancy centers, prayed at abortion clinics, counseled women considering abortion, helped a woman in a crisis pregnancy, adopted children, stood for life, and exposed abortionists responsible for shedding innocent blood. I’m thankful for the babies who have been saved through these efforts and the mothers and fathers, grandparents, and friends who have been spared the horrors of abortion as well. In the upcoming year, I look forward to joining you on the front lines as we fight to save innocent human life.

I’m thankful for the prolife political victories we’ve had over the past year. First the proposed Amendment 6 was defeated in the November election. While this amendment claimed to prohibit tax funding of abortion, it actually didn’t prohibit any funding of abortion that isn’t already prohibited by state law, and it would have permitted tax funding of abortion in cases of rape and incest. It also would have added language to the Florida Constitution that would have inferred that the FL and US Constitutions contain a “right to abortion.” This is why Personhood FL and Personhood FL ProLife PAC opposed Amendment 6. (View our analysis of Amendment 6 here.)

I’m also thankful that in FL over 80 candidates for public office signed a Personhood Affirmation committing to a 100% comprehensive prolife position. I thank these candidates for having the courage to defend all innocent human life, and I thank you for voting for them. I thank God that for the first time in Florida, candidates who are 100% prolife were elected to federal, state, district, and local offices. In the upcoming year, Personhood FL and Personhood FL ProLife PAC look forward to joining with you to educate prolife legislators on the importance of protecting all innocent human life.

I’m thankful today that God has granted us to live in a country and a state where we the people have the ability to petition our government for a redress of grievances and amend our constitution peacefully, without succession. As we thank God today, let us resolve to pray and work to pass the Florida ProLife Personhood Amendment to restore the sanctity of human life, end abortion, and protect all innocent human life, and signup for Personhood FL’s next volunteer conference call Thursday, December 11 from 7 – 8 PM EST.

Personhood FL and Personhood FL ProLife PAC have taken a position on two proposed Florida constitutional amendments: Amendment 1 and Amendment 6. Personhood FL and Personhood FL ProLife PAC support Amendment 1 and oppose Amendment 6 for the reasons stated below.

2012 Proposed Florida Constitutional Amendments

Proposed Constitutional Amendment

Recommendations

Amendment 6

Vote No

Amendment 1

The proposed Amendment 1 to the FL constitution is designed to prohibit the government from requiring individuals from purchasing healthcare insurance and allowing individuals to directly pay for healthcare. This amendment may give Florida’s governor and legislature both the courage and legal foundation to exert Florida’s 10th amendment rights to protect Floridians from provisions of the Affordable Healthcare Act of 2010 and would prohibit the passage of a similar act on a statewide level.

Since the Affordable Healthcare Act does include coverage for abortions and since socialized healthcare has always led to rationing of care for seniors and the disabled, Personhood FL and Personhood ProLife PAC support Amendment 1 and encourage you to vote yes on 1.

Amendment 6

Amendment 6 is billed by several prolife organizations as an amendment that will prohibit tax funding of abortion. In reality, it would allow tax funding of abortion in the cases of rape, incest, the life or health of the mother, and where federal law requires tax funding of abortion and will NOT prohibit a single dime from funding abortions that aren’t already prohibited by state statute. (Read the complete amendment text here.) It is with profound regret that we oppose Amendment 6 and must ask you to vote NO on 6.

Personhood FL and Personhood FL ProLife PAC realize that rape is a violent act that no woman should ever have to go through. We believe that those who commit rape and incest should be punished to the fullest extent of the law, but we oppose executing a child for the crimes of her father. We do not believe that abortion is ever a compassionate solution to any “problem.” We have interviewed women who have had an abortion after rape and have not found one who was glad she had the abortion. Many said that the abortion was more traumatic than the rape! (Read their stories here.) Furthermore, we oppose forcing taxpayers to pay for abortions based on the manner in which a child was conceived. When we allow for exceptions, we weaken the prolife argument and thus prolong the killing of innocent children in the womb.

Everyone wants to see both the mother and the child survive though pregnancy and childbirth. In all cases, doctors should fight to save both lives; however, we realize that there are rare cases where saving both isn’t possible. In such cases, doctors should save the life of the mother after they have exhausted all efforts to save both lives. Such provisions are used in FL’s partial birth abortion ban (782.36(4), F.S.) but were not included in Amendment 6. Moreover the life and health of the mother clause used in this amendment is overly broad which may lead to tax funding of abortions that are not medically necessary to save the life of the mother and where no attempt has been made to save the life of the preborn child.

Amendment 6 also includes the following statement: “This constitution may not be interpreted to create broader rights to an abortion than those contained in the United States Constitution.” This section implies that the US and FL constitutions do include a “right” to abortion. We believe that this could enshrine the “right” to abortion into our constitution though limiting it to the extent that it is present in the US Constitution.

While it is clear that the US Supreme Court through a series of cases created a right to privacy that is not found in the US Constitution, it is also true that this right to privacy doesn’t allow a mother or father to kill another person. For instance, mothers have been charged with murder for drowning their toddlers in the bathtub in the privacy of their own home. Why? Because their born children are persons whose lives are protected by the US Constitution. The US Supreme Court in the Roe v Wade case decided that preborn babies weren’t persons and could therefore be killed by abortion. This is why a personhood amendment is needed to define all humans, including the preborn, as persons. The Florida ProLife Personhood Amendment will do just that. Please download and sign a copy of the petition today and help us gather the nearly 700,000 petition signatures required to obtain ballot access in 2014.

While Personhood FL and Personhood FL ProLife PAC enjoy working with the prolife organizations and legislators that support this amendment, we do oppose Amendment 6 and ask you to vote no on it. If this were legislation, it would be bad enough to allow for tax funding of abortion in certain cases and to infer that the US and Florida constitutions include a “right” to abortion, but to add this to our constitution would strengthen these deficiencies, and require another amendment to remove the provisions that allow for tax funding of abortion in certain cases and that infer that the US and FL constitutions includes a “right” to abortion. Amending the constitution requires first making it onto the ballot (either by the legislature placing it on the ballot or by collecting nearly 700,000 petition signatures), obtaining approval by the FL Supreme Court, and then obtaining 60% of the vote in a general election. If passed, we will likely never remove the exceptions or the inferred “right” to abortion clauses.

Additionally, Amendment 6 will NOT prohibit any tax funding of abortion that is not already prohibited in current FL law. As documented by Americans United for Life’s Florida Defending Life Report Card, “Florida follows the federal standard for Medicaid funding for abortions, only permitting the use of federal or state matching Medicaid funds for abortions necessary to preserve the life of the woman or when the pregnancy is the result of rape or incest.” As such, Amendment 6 will NOT prohibit a single dime from funding abortions that aren’t already prohibited by state statute.

If this amendment passes, it will do so because Floridians believe it actually prohibits taxpayer funding of abortion as proponents claim. If it fails, we encourage the legislature to resubmit the amendment without the exceptions and without inferring that our constitutions includes a “right” to abortion. Amending our constitution to protect innocent human life is of paramount importance and should be done in a way that does not undermine the end result we seek, the legal protection of every humans from conception to natural death. We oppose Amendment 6 and ask you to vote NO on 6.

Personhood FL ProLife PAC today announces it’s general election endorsement of over 40 candidates for federal, state, and local offices across Florida and its position on two of the proposed Florida constitutional amendments. Endorsed candidates include current Congressman Tom Rooney; current Florida Representative and candidate for Florida Senate, Kelli Stargel, and current Marion County Commissioner Stanley McClain. Personhood FL ProLife PAC endorsed Republicans, Democrats, and NPA and third party candidates for every office from US Senator to Soil and Water Conservation and every position in-between.

All endorsed candidates signed a Personhood Affirmation indicating their agreement to Personhood FL ProLife PAC’s comprehensive prolife principles covering not only abortion but also abortion funding, RU-486, fetal stem cell research, human cloning, fetal tissue research, and assisted suicide and euthanasia. Candidates also affirmed that all humans should have personhood status under the Florida and US Constitutions from the beginning of the biological development of that human being to natural death. Moreover, candidates agreed to defend all innocent human life including preborn babies, the elderly, and the disabled.
Personhood FL Director* Bryan Longworth praised the endorsements and encouraged prolife voters to support prolife candidates, “Personhood FL ProLife PAC has today endorsed candidates who have committed to protect all innocent human life. It’s no longer sufficient to be against abortion in certain circumstances. Being prolife in the 21st Century demands that we defend human life from beginning to end. These candidates have committed to protect human life from experimentation in laboratories and our seniors and the disabled when their lives are seen as expendable. For the first time in Florida’s history, voters will have the opportunity to support candidates who are 100% prolife, without exception. I encourage prolife Floridians to support prolife candidates with their votes, time, and money.”

In the primary election, Personhood FL ProLife PAC endorsed over 80 candidates for federal, state, and local offices across Florida including Congressman Tom Rooney and current Florida Representative and candidate for Florida Senate, Kelli Stargel. Personhood FL ProLife PAC endorsed Republicans, Democrats, and NPA and third party candidates for every office from US Senator to Soil and Water Conservation and every position in-between.

Several endorsed candidates won their primary election giving prolife voters an opportunity to vote for prolife candidates in the general election, and Personhood FL ProLife PAC has invited general election candidates to seek endorsement for the general election.

In the primary election cycle, several candidates contacted our office who wanted to sign the Personhood Affirmation but didn’t have enough time to do so. ProLife candidates who made it through the primary now have an opportunity to seek endorsement in the general election. We also also received calls and e-mails from prolifers who asked why a particular candidate wasn’t included in our list of endorsed candidates. (View Personhood FL ProLife PAC Primary Election Endorsed Candidates List here.) The reason they weren’t endorsed is because they didn’t submit their Personhood Affirmation and Petition on time. If you know a prolife candidate who wasn’t included in the Personhood FL ProLife PAC list of endorsed candidates, please ask them to review our PAC Guidelines for Candidate Endorsement and submit their Personhood Affirmation and Petition.

To qualify for endorsement, prolife candidates must sign a Personhood Affirmation and the Florida ProLife Personhood Amendment Petition indicating their agreement to Personhood FL ProLife PAC’s comprehensive prolife principles covering not only abortion but also abortion funding, RU-486, fetal stem cell research, human cloning, fetal tissue research, and assisted suicide and euthanasia. Candidates also affirmed that all humans should have personhood status under the Florida and US Constitutions from the beginning of the biological development of that human being to natural death. Moreover, candidates agreed to defend all innocent human life including preborn babies irrespective of their manner of conception, the elderly, and the disabled.

We will never forget what happened September 11, 2001. We know where we were when the planes took down the world trade centers and crashed into the Pentagon. We know how we honored the brave passengers who fought off Muslim terrorists to take down a plane headed for the White House, even though doing so meant loosing their own lives or placing themselves in harms way. We know how we rallied around the rescue workers that put the needs of others ahead of their own, and we know the sorrow we felt to learn that so many lost their lives.

As we mourn those who died 9/11/2001, let us remember that each day in America since January 22, 1973, we have killed more babies through abortion than the number of lives lost 911! We have now murdered more than 55,000,000 preborn children and have left millions of wounded moms and dads who believed a lie that their babies were merely a blob of tissue.

On September 11, 2009, Personhood Florida filed the Florida Personhood Constitutional Petition. When the Personhood Amendment is added to our constitution, it will define all humans as persons from their earliest biological beginning. This will mean that preborn baby girls and boy, the disabled, and the elderly will have a constitutional right to life! The Florida Personhood Amendment will end abortion in Florida and directly challenge Roe vs Wade. Isn’t it time we ended the killing of innocent preborn children? Isn’t it time to end abortion in Florida, America, and the World. We must not rest: we must not faint: we must not falter until every innocent human is protected by love and by law. Let’s end abortion!

If you’re a registered Florida voter and haven’t yet signed the FL Personhood Petition, please visit http://www.PersonhoodFL.com and sign it today. While there, click the Get Involved button to learn how you can help Personhood Florida’s Constitutional Petition drive! Let’s end abortion NOW!

Wouldn’t you love to vote twice tomorrow? Well, you can! Obviously, you can’t physically vote twice without breaking the law, and I’m not encouraging you to do so. You can multiply your vote tomorrow however. How? Read below.

Chances are: someone you know who is a registered FL voter who isn’t going to vote tomorrow. If you can convince them to vote, you can multiply your vote. You also likely know someone who doesn’t know who the candidates are and what they stand for. If you can educate them on where the candidates stand on the issues, you can multiply your vote.

I’ve worked diligently to provide voter guides to help voters determine where the candidates stand of the issues, and I’ve even created a convenient post card with a list of endorsed and recommended candidates.
